The Polish Quilt

 This is a quilt I made many years ago that has recently been getting renewed recognition. It shows various regional costumes and traditional embroideries of Poland. At the center is the Polish eagle, below it is a character called "Lajkonik," from an ancient holiday. The background of red and white triangles was adapted from a Polish Easter egg. The quilt is completely hand sewn and embroidered,  was shown all over the U.S.A., and has won several awards.

My little pet

My little pet: a mosaic animal sculpture I finished recently. I made a frame out of wire from a campaign sign, head from an old sieve. Then covered it with cement and mosaicked with shells, broken dishes, and some found tiles.

Easter Fashion

                                                                                                                                                                         Fun with fashion: Lace dress, velvet coat  with asymmetric ruffle, velvet pants and headband, all embellished with miniature doilies and beading. Guess who likes pink?

Now showing 13 of my art works at Dank Haus, "Culture Bridge" 4740 N. Western Ave., Chicago, Il. until March 21, 2015.  Here's a quilt in the exhibit. This shows a Mardi-Gras Indian escaping the flood waters from Hurricane Katrina.

      

 I just finished Minerva's quilt, hand embroidered on silks, velvets, and metallic brocades, in the style of Victorian crazy quilts. There are small doilies and bits of lace, along with the velvet and fur owl. This one took a while!

12th Annual Cardboard Show

I made three Jumping Jacks for the Cardboard show at Bridgeport Art Center, 1200 W. 35th street, Chicago. Cash & Carry opening is Nov. 21, 2014.
These are 31" high, made of - of course, cardboard, and junk mail, bottle caps, broken jewelry, etc.

Puppets Come To Life

My painting and collage work will be shown at the Co-Prosperity Sphere , 3219 South Morgan, Chicago, Il. 60608. Opening on Sept. 19, 2014, 6-10 p.m.  This painting is called "Puppets Come to Life."
